“A sum of Rs 17,000 crore has been spent for the Yettinahole project and the work is completed. The second phase of the work has begun. Another Rs 6,000 crore is required for its completion. We need 24 tmcft of water for the project, including 14 tmcft for drinking purposes and 10 tmcft for filling 527 lakes. We have even given Cabinet approval to release Rs 148.8 crore and issued work orders to fill 10 lakes,” chief minister said.

He was speaking at a convention in Arsikere of Hassan district on Saturday.

Siddaramaiah said that Karnataka tops the country in terms of per capita income mainly due to implementation of five guarantee schemes.

“Since the purchasing power of the people has increased, government has started getting more income and it is on the forefront in development. The per capita income of people of the state is Rs 2.4 lakh. BJP leaders mislead people with politically motivated lies and making false allegations say that there are no funds for development,” he said.
