Yogeeshwar hints at support to central notification

 “A few harsh decisions are necessary for the protection of wildlife and ecologically sensitive zones. We will try to create awareness among the people there. It is a sensitive issue and a decision will be taken after taking into confidence all the stakeholders,” Minister told reporters on Wednesday.

Spices rights

The Minister who arrived in city after a tour of Kodagu said there are hundreds of acres of land where residents of Coorg have got rights to grow spices.

But, many of the farmers are no more active growers. They are ready to forfeit their rights to the government. The process needs a long deliberations and the forest department will soon look into the issue.

The residents will be sensitised on the pros and cons of central government declaring the area as eco-sensitive zone,” Yogeshwar said here.
