Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice-Chancellor M K Ramesh stated that more research works should take place in Ayurveda, and they should also be properly documented for the benefit of coming generations.

Speaking at the inauguration of 'Yogyasutra-2017', a two-day national-level workshop on 'Pain management through Ayurveda', at Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya & Hospital at Heggeri here on Saturday, he stated that allopathic medicines bring instant relief from pain, but Ayurvedic treatment is helpful to maintain health for a long time.

Ayurveda is an ancient method of medicine. Even foreigners are interested to take up research in Ayurveda, and thousands of foreigners visit India every year to get Ayurvedic treatment. Young students have the responsibility to get the global attention for Ayurveda, Dr Ramesh added.

Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya Principal B B Joshi, Dr S K Bannigol, Dr S A Patil, and others were present.

Demonstration of Agnikarma and Raktamokshan methods were conducted. Discussions about pain relief for cancer patients, Marma Chikitsa techniques and other topics were held. Booklets on pain relief research in Ayurveda, and Ayurvedic medicines were also on display.
