The Zilla Panchayat members indulged in verbal spat over political rivalry in general meeting held at ZP, here on Saturday.
The meeting was held after a gap of 18 months due to political rivalry among the JD(S) members. A group of JD(S) members were against ZP president Nagarathna Swamy of JD(S) as she failed to follow the directions of the party leaders. The party leaders had directed the president to resign for the post, but she has been denying it from several months.
The JD(S) leaders, who were against the president, raised voice against her over distribution of funds and another group came in support of her. Even the Congress members extended supported to the president.
Even though the ZP Chief Executive Officer Zulfikar Ulla requested the members not to create nuisance, the members continued verbal spat.
A score of JD(S) members took the president to task for not conducting meeting from last 18 months. However, the Congress members backed the president and charged the JD(S) members for not attending the meeting.
