Mumbai: As the door-to-door survey of Scheduled Caste households regarding internal reservation in Karnataka snowballed into a controversy, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi founder Prakash Ambedkar described the exercise as "bogus and fake".
70-year-old lawyer-activist-politician, Ambedkar, a two-time Lok Sabha MP and a one-term Rajya Sabha MP, is the grandson of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India.
“Congress is doing a bogus survey for Scheduled Castes in Karnataka. What kind of legitimate survey involves secretly pasting notices on homes without speaking to the residents or collecting any actual information? And, what will be the use of conducting such fake surveys?” he asked.
“Is the Congress plotting to record improper and false data of Scheduled Castes, thereby reducing their representation in government sector and welfare budget?” he added.
Ambedkar also asked Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah whether such a survey was meant to cheat the Scheduled Castes.
