The Mutahida-Majlis-e-Mashawart, a united forum of various separatists groups, on Sunday issued a protest calendar to register their demand for handing over the mortal remains of Afzal Guru and JKLF founder Maqbool Bhat.

While Bhat was hanged and buried inside Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984, after he was convicted for murdering a police official, Afzal was hanged on February 9.

“There should be a complete shutdown on Saturday to put across a point to the world that Kashmir is still under occupation,” a spokesperson of the Majlis said in a statement.

He urged people to express their dissent peacefully after the Friday prayers. However, unlike previous weeks, there will be no protests or strike on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Majlis have appealed to businesses and schools to function as usual on Sunday as well.
