Strengthening ties between the two Telugu states, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday flew to Vijayawada and invited his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Nara Chandrababu Naidu to the proposed Ayutha Chandi Yagam later this month. Rao had earlier attended the foundation-laying ceremony of Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravathi in November.

Rao is performing the mother of all rituals on a grand scale at his farmhouse at Erravelli in his native Medak district from December 23 to 28. The yagam is meant to drive away evil forces hindering development of the state. President Pranab Mukherjee will also be present on the occasion.

The chief minister was accompanied by Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender and Peddapalli MP Balka Suman in a special helicopter. He was received by Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Ravela Kishore Babu at Gannavaram airport.
