Incumbent Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday said that Investment support to farmers will be one of the key promises of the proposed non-Congress, non-BJP Federal Front.

He said this speaking to the press after the TRS Legislature Party elected him unanimously as their leader at the party headquarters here.

KCR strongly believes that the cash input scheme at the rate of Rs 400 per acre per season to farmers has played a crucial role in bringing his party to power for the second consecutive time.

The scheme was introduced in April this year and 57 lakh farmers, irrespective of the size of their holding or caste, benefitted from the scheme.

KCR wants the Federal Front to go to polls with the slogan of replicating the Rytu Bandhu scheme across the country.

He said the scheme would cost the exchequer roughly around Rs 3.5 lakh crore. Talking about the support he has garnered so far for the Federal Front, he said AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has already made preliminary discussions for the formation of the front.

He said they have made arrangements for touring across the country to organise farmers and minorities, including Muslims and Christians.

KCR, who had met state governor E S L Narsaimhan immediately after the final tally arrived, said the swearing-in ceremony may take place between 1 and 1.30 pm on Thursday at the Rajbhavan.

He said he is waiting for the EC to release the gazette allowing him to go ahead with the formalities.

Meanwhile, party MLAs Padma Devender Reddy and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy submitted the letter of election of KCR as the legislature party leader to the Governor immediately after the process was over.
