Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal reached out to dissidents on Saturday by offering to restructure the party, and claimed that all “differences” among its leaders have been resolved.
Kejriwal met party colleague Yogendra Yadav at the latter's residence ahead of the second day of his party's national executive meeting on Saturday.
Yadav had offered to resign from the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party on June 1, alleging in an email to all AAP leaders that the party is “falling prey to personality cult”.
On June 4, AAP founder-member Manish Sisodia had hit back at Yadav, accusing him of targeting Kejriwal and making internal matters public.
Soon after his meeting with Yadav, Kejriwal tweeted, “Yogendra Yadav is a very dear friend and a very valued colleague. Had long discussion with him.”
The AAP chief said Yadav “raised some important issues. All of us will work on it.” He added, “All differences within the party have been ironed out.”
In another tweet, he said, “We will also try to get Shazia back.” One of the most prominent faces of the AAP, Shazia Ilmi had quit it on May 24, arguing that there was “lack of inner democracy in a party that continuously talks about Swaraj (self-rule)”.
“Resignations will be discussed tomorrow (on Sunday). All things are going smooth and differences are resolved. We are discussing organisational structure. Expansion of PAC could be possible,” said Kejriwal.
