The odd-even plan, which means that cars in the city and those coming from the National Capital Region (NCR) or outstation cars bearing registration number ending with even digits will not be allowed on odd days and vice versa, will come into force from January 1 and continue till January 15, 2016 from 8 AM-8PM.

While Sundays will be exempted from the plan, the government also announced Rs 2,000 fine for those who violate it.

Addressing the media at his official residence on Thursday, Kejriwal read out a list of people who would be exempted from the odd-even scheme. The list includes VIP vehicles.
