Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday called Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Najeeb Jung a dictator and reluctantly sent the file on appointment of the chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) to Raj Niwas for approval.

Kejriwal, in a letter to Jung, accused him of acting at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and complained that the L-G by claiming himself to be “the government” in the Union Territory was trying to function like a dictator.

“It’s obvious, the Delhi government is the elected government and not an individual,” said Kejriwal, dismissing Jung’s claim that he was “the government” as laughable and unconstitutional.

The chief minister’s letter to Jung came a day after the latter put a question mark on Kejriwal’s decision to appoint Swati Maliwal, an AAP leader, as the new DCW chief without taking approval of the Raj Niwas.
