Thiruvanathapuram: Hundreds paid homage to Malayali nurse Renjitha G Nair who was killed in the Ahmedabad flight crash.
The body of Renjitha that was identified through DNA matching on Monday was brought to Thiruvananthapuram by Tuesday morning and the funeral performed at the premises of her home at Pullad in Pathanamthitta district by evening.
State education minister V Sivankutty and food minister G R Anil were among those who received the body at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. Many political leaders including CPI(M) general secretary M A Baby paid homage at the airport.
The mortal remains were then taken to Vivekananda High School at Pullad where Renjitha studied. Hundreds of people paid homage to her. Later the body was taken to her home and a funeral performed. Only family members and close relatives and friends were allowed at the home.
Renjtha, who leaves behind elderly mother Thulasi and two children Indhuchoodan and Idhika,was planning to settle down in Kerala when the tragedy struck.
She was working in the UK and came down on three days leave to complete formalities for rejoining her job as nurse in state government service. She was also constructing a home that was nearing completion.
