Thiruvananthapuram: A woman who delivered a baby at Thrissur in Kerala is being considered as the shortest to give birth in the country.

K K Simi, with a height of 95 centimeters, delivered at a private hospital in Thrissur on June 23.

According to hospital authorities, Andhra Pradesh native P Kamakshi with a height of 108 centimeters, was so far considered the shortest woman to give birth to a child in the country. The process of recording Simi as the shortest mother in the Limca book of records has been initiated.

Simi, who is a cooperative bank employee hailing from Ayyanthol in Thrissur, delivered through Cesarean procedure. The baby boy weighed 1.685 kg at the time of birth.

A team of doctors were treating her considering the complications involved, hospital authorities said.
