As the controversy surrounding raid on Kerala House canteen over “serving of beef” continued, police on Wednesday arrested Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta for filing a false complaint.
The Kerala government threatened legal action if the Centre does not admit that the Monday “raid” by police at the state-run guest house was a “mistake”.
Maintaining that the Delhi Police action has affected Centre-State relations, the Kerala Cabinet at its meeting on Wednesday discussed the matter and decided to take legal course if the Centre also stuck to the explanation given by Delhi Police that "they only did their duty and carried out an inspection in accordance with law”.
The police had detained Gupta around 11 am and subjected him to intensive questioning. After arrest, Gupta was produced before a court, a senior official said.
Beef fry and curry were back on Kerala House’s menu on Wednesday and the delicacies made from around 12 kg buffalo meat were sold out in 45 minutes. As there were several people still asking for beef, the restaurant decided to prepare some more and used around 3-4 kg meat. This was also sold out in less than an hour.
