Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya said on Tuesday that the government will speed up labour reforms.

He said that the process of proposed codification of laws on industrial relations is going on and it will be tabled in the coming session of Parliament. “The codification of labour laws will benefit the workers and the government will go ahead with it,” he said.

The minister further said that laws are too old to suit the “present-day needs”. He also claimed that there has been no industrial unrest in the country during the two years of Modi government. Trade unions, however, are on the war path against labour reforms.
