A massive landslide that occurred in Malshej Ghats in the wee hours of Tuesday morning has affected the road traffic between Mumbai and Ahmednagar district.

Rains and mist has reportedly been hampering the debris clearing operations. The Malshej Ghats region connects Mumbai and Thane to Ahmednagar and Pune and is one of the busy roads of the area.

Several parts of Maharashtra's Vidarbha and Marathwada regions have been receiving heavy rainfall since last two days. The Aheri and Bhamragad areas of Gadchiroli district received heavy downpour and some villages have lost road connectivity to main towns because of inundation.

The Met department has forecast similar weather condition for the next 24 hours.
