Global media giants including Disney and Sony and Asia's richest man Mukesh Ambani reportedly battled Sunday for the broadcast rights for the Indian Premier League cricket tournament, one of the world's most-watched sporting events.
The winning bidders were expected to pay up to $7.7 billion in an online auction held by the BCCI on Sunday to show and stream the two-month contest for five seasons from 2023 to 2027, according to analysts.

Hand grenade found near DND flyway
A hand grenade was found near the DelhiNoida Direct (DND) flyway, triggering panic in the area, officials said on Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, a few youths who were bathing in the Yamuna informed the police about a sack with a hand grenade inside.
Soon after receiving the information, a team from the Mayur Vihar Police Station along with NSG Commandos reached the spot in the Yamuna Khadar area.
