Veteran politician Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar, who chose to join Ajit Pawar after the 2023 rebellion within the NCP, might return to Sharad Pawar's fold.

The 75-year-old Naik-Nimbalkar is the 29th descendant of the royal family from Phaltan, He is a voracious reader and an acclaimed cricketer.

The political heavyweight from Satara district was a minister in the erstwhile Democratic Front government and a former Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.

"I feel guilty about deserting Pawar Saheb, who made me a minister in 2009, though I was not even a legislator. I joined Ajit Pawar to ensure the security of my workers. But that doesn’t seem to be happening,” Naik-Nimbalkar said on Sunday. 

"Many of my supporters have told me to join Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP)…they have asked me something for the first time,” he added.

That Naik-Nimbalkar may leave the NCP headed by Ajit Pawar, who is the Deputy Chief Minister to NCP (SP), was indicated by Sharad Pawar himself in Indapur when Harshvardhan Patil, who left the BJP to join him.

“As I was coming for this function in Indapur, I got a call…I would go to Phaltan on 14 October for a similar function…did you understand…,” said Sharad Pawar on Monday.
