Gadchiroli: In a major development towards ending Naxalism, 11 CPI (Maoist) commanders and cadres surrendered before Gadchiroli police on Wednesday.

The Naxalites surrendered before Director General of Police Rashmi Shukla.

Besides Shukla, other top officers who were present including Additional DG (Special Operations) Chhering Dorje, Deputy Inspector General (Gadchiroli Range) Ankit Goyal, Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal a and CRPF's Deputy Inspector General (Operations).

"This is the beginning of the end of Naxalism in Gadchiroli," Shukla told DH.

"We are committed to the deadline of 31 March 2026 set by the Centre to put an end to the menace of Naxalism from India," she said.

"This year itself, 100 plus Maoists have surrendered in Gadchiroli," she said.
