Mumbai: The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly passing on ‘sensitive’ information to a Pakistan-based Intelligence Operative.

The operation was carried out after the ATS Navi Mumbai received intelligence on the activities of the person.

While the ATS has not named the person, he works as a fabrication engineer in an establishment important for national security.

According to the ATS, the accused has been booked under the Official Secrets Act and other laws for passing on defence-related details to the Pakistan-based intelligence operative who he had befriended on social media.

The ATS investigations revealed that the accused had been in touch with the PIO between November 2021-May 2023 on Facebook and WhatsApp.
