Mumbai: The Mumbai Zonal Unit (MZU) of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has disposed off about 1835 kgs of Mephedrone along with 341 kgs of other contraband substances which were seized from various locations at Maharashtra and Delhi.
In this case, 16 persons were arrested, NCB officials said.
The in-depth investigation of the massive drug seizure was conducted which led to arrest of numerous persons from multiple locations including foreigners which led to bursting of the closely intertwined drug associates having international linkages.
A High Level Drug Disposal Committee (HLDDC) was constituted in accordance to the guidelines prescribed by the Supreme Court which comprised the Deputy Director General (SWR) of NCB, the Additional Director of NCB-Mumbai Zonal Unit and the Additional Commissioner of Pune Police.
The case was reviewed and selected for the pre-trial disposal. Accordingly, all legal terms were complied after which the seized drug along with other chemicals were finally disposed of through incineration on 14th November 2025 at MEPL facility in Ranjangaon, Pune in presence of the HLDDC.
This vital drug seizure followed by pre-trial disposal underscores NCB’s sustained efforts in dismantling organized drug syndicates and targeting drug offenders who continue to fuel the narcotics ecosystem.
