Mumbai: In a major development in Maharashtra politics, veteran OBC leader and one of the most experienced politicians, Chhagan Bhujbal, will take oath as a Cabinet minister on Tuesday.

Bhujbal is from the NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The brief oath-taking ceremony will be held at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai at 1000 hrs.

Governor CP Radhakrishnan will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Bhujbal.

When the new MahaYuti-NDA government came to power and the council of ministers were sworn in, Bhujbal was ignored.

Bhujbal himself has expressed displeasure over it.

In fact, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wanted him in the ministry, the NCP dropped him.

From the NCP, there is one vacancy in the ministry as earlier this year Dhananjay Munde had to resign in the wake of public outrage after his close aide was arrested in an extortion and murder case.

The swearing in comes ahead of the monsoon session of the legislature.

Bhujbal could be given the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection ministry - a department that he had handled earlier.
