Launching a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that for the first time in the history of the country a Chief Minister sat on a dharna in support big those who looted the poor.

" For the first time in the history of the country e have seen such a Chief Minister who sat on a dharna siding with those who have looted the hard-earned savings of the poor," said Modi. He was addressing a party rally in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.

The Prime Minister's comments come days after Banerjee sat on a three-day long dharna against the CBI's attempt to question Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar at his residence in relation to the chit fund scam.

The Prime Minister also said that the victims of the chit fund scam in Bengal want to know why the West Bengal Chief Minister is " so afraid" of the investigation into the chit fund scam.

Modi said that he will not spare those who are involved in the chit fund scam.

" I want to assure all the families who fell victim to the Saradha, Narada, Rose Valley scam that this Chowkidar will not spare those who are involved in this," said Modi.
