Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has approached the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the CBI in liquor policy scam case.

On Tuesday morning, senior advocate A M Singhvi mentioned the matter for urgent hearing before a bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice P S Narasimha.

The court initially pointed out the petitioner can approach the High Court under Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The counsel, however, said the writ petition filed under Article 32 of the Constitution was covered under the Vinod Dua case judgement.

The court also said it has entertained a similar writ petition filed by Congress leader Pawan Khera as it involved multiple FIRs.

However, on repeated requests, the court agreed to hear Sisodia's plea at 3:50 pm on Tuesday itself.

Sisodia was arrested on February 26.

Special judge M K Nagpal remanded Sisodia to CBI custody for five days for "further and extensive interrogation".
