Amid speculations that Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi could be removed from his post, senior party leader Nitish Kumar on Thursday met Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Sharad Yadav at his residence here.

Both leaders, however, denied discussing Manjhi’s removal and insisted that they discussed issues surrounding the merger of the Janata Parivar parties and organising joint protest against ordinances.

Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Kumar said he did not need to come to Delhi to discuss Bihar issues.

He said Manjhi’s removal is not under consideration as the party’s priority right now is merger with the Janata Parivar outfits.

Agreeing with Kumar, Yadav said Manjhi’s removal as Bihar chief minister is purely a media speculation.

Sources within the JD(U) confirmed that Manjhi will continue as chief minister.
