With full backing from Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh is expected to move the Supreme Court next week seeking the quashing of the summons issued by a special CBI court asking him to appear in connection with coal scam case.
The Congress has roped in top lawyers Kapil Sibal, who served as Law Minister in the UPA-II regime, and KTS Tulsi to appear on behalf of Singh in the apex court.
A special court had summoned Singh along with industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla, ex-coal secretary P C Parakh and three others as accused in a case pertaining to allocation of Talabira-II coal block in Odisha in 2005 and asked them to appear before it on April 8.
