“It is heartening to know that Deccan Herald, known for its editorial balance, has started its new edition in Delhi. I welcome this latest addition to Delhi’s media world,” he said.

The prime minister was speaking after receiving a copy of the English daily from K N Tilak Kumar, Editor, Deccan Herald, at his Parliament House office. Singh congratulated The Printer’s (Mysore) Limited, publishers of the newspaper, on taking the decision to begin their first edition outside Karnataka.

“I am happy that a newspaper from Southern India has made forays into Delhi. Existing newspapers here have tended to focus more on the northern region. It is good to have a well-known newspaper with southern perspective stepping into the national capital,” he said.

Prime minister’s media adviser Harish Khare also expressed happiness over the starting of the new edition by Deccan Herald. Tilak Kumar was accompanied by K N Shanth Kumar, Editor, Prajavani, Deccan Herald associate editor K Subrahmanya and political editor B S Arun.
