The Maoist faction that kidnapped Biju Janata Dal MLA from Laxmipur, Jhina Hikaka, will present its demands within the next 24 hours.

This has reportedly been stated in a letter sent to a few local media houses by Sarita, a senior member of the Maoist’s Srikakulam-Koraput divisional committee on Sunday evening. The naxal faction from the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh is mostly active in southern Odisha districts like Koraput and Malkangiri. The state government had already urged the Maoists to place their demands to pursue negotiations for Hikaka’s release.

Family of the abducted legislator on Sunday appealed to the Maoists to set him free.
