Microsoft, Vedanta officials examined in probe against Bedi

The Delhi police has examined the Microsoft and Vedanta Foundation officials and the relevant documents in its probe into a case of alleged misappropriation by former IPS officer Kiran Bedi of funds, meant for an NGO run by her, a court was informed here today.

In its probe status report, submitted today to the court of  Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police said it is investigating the case and will finalise it "at the earliest".

Microsoft and Vedanta Foundation had made donations to Bedi's NGOs for various schemes relating to computer education for kids and families of paramilitary personnel of BSF, CISF, ITBP, CRPF and other state police organisations.

"The investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to finalise the investigation at the earliest," the police stated in its one page status report, in which it also referred to the probe into the allegations against her about inflated bills of air tickets and those for purchase of computers during her stint in the Police Training College.

It said three Microsoft officials have been examined and "relevant documents have been taken into the possession". Vedanta Foundation and former employees of Bedi's NGO India Vision Foundation (IVF) have also been examined and relevant records and documents have been obtained, it stated.

In relation to the allegations of submitting inflated bills for air tickets, the police said details of the air tickets purchased by Bedi and her travel records, have been obtained from the Fly Well Travels.

On the allegation that Bedi had purchased computers at inflated prices during her tenure as Police Training College chief here, the report said as per two special commissioners of police (CP) no inquiry was conducted against her.
