Karunanidhi—while launching the diamond jubilee celebrations of the historic Stanley Reservoir at Mettur, the gateway to the Cauvery river delta irrigation in Tamil Nadu—also traced the history of the water dispute. He said he had been consistently voicing the state’s interests over the years to get its rightful share of the Cauvery waters. Karunanidhi inaugurated the celebrations at Mettur in Salem district, via video conferencing from here, on the dam completing 75 years of service to the farming community.
