Police in Araku and Paderu booked cases against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLA Giddi Eswari on Friday for threatening Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister  Chandrababu Naidu with dire consequences at a meeting in Chintapalle on Thursday.

The cases were filed after receiving complaints from leaders of the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

According to complainants,  the MLA from the tribal Paderu area had threatened to chop Naidu’s head off and attack him with hundreds of arrows if he continued with his plans to allow mining of bauxite in the tribal areas. Eswari also challenged Naidu to field anyone against her in the constituency and win the seat.

“The said speech was allegedly made by the MLA in Chintapalli public meeting in which Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy also spoke. We are scrutinising the video clippings. We will proceed further,” ASP A Babujee told reporters.
