Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to French President Francois Hollande to condemn the terrorist attack in Paris in the strongest terms and reaffirmed India’s commitment to counter-terrorism cooperation as a key element of the bilateral relations.

Modi also conveyed condolences on behalf of the people of India and expressed solidarity with the people of France.

“He expressed confidence that President Hollande and the people of France will deal with this moment of grief and challenge with fortitude and that they will succeed in combating the forces of terrorism,” officials sources said.

Hollande thanked Modi for the solidarity and support France received from India. The French president said he would look forward to receiving Modi in France this year.
