Trying to win over people from the North-East who are facing racial discrimination, BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi pitched for outsourcing jobs in the region to check migration to other parts of the country.

Modi’s suggestion comes ahead of rallies he will address in Guwahati and Impal on Saturday for the first time.

Addressing a digital communication summit through video-conferencing, Modi said given that North-Eastern youth are English speaking and are technologically friendly, they are suited for digital outsourced jobs which can be transferred from cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad to their own villages and towns.

“The people from the North-East have a good command over English. They go out from their home in search for jobs. Why should North-East students go to Bangalore to do outsourcing jobs,” he suggested.

He was also of the view that since outsourcing jobs are not “rocket science”, shifting them to smaller cities will make the country only competitive in the international market.
