Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday stressed his government’s policy of “Sab Ka Sath, Sab Ka Vikas”, reaching out to neighbours for helping him develop the entire Saarc region.

Inaugurating the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati, he addressed the media and officials from eight Saarc countries and batted for regional peace and prosperity.

“In Saarc region, we have 21 per cent of the world’s population, 9 per cent of world’s economy. Thus, it is time we work together,” Modi said. Modi also stressed on the fact that whatever the nation be South Asia is home to people of this region and thus, it is time to unite through different means, including Sports. Modi also informed that it was his idea that the organising committee of the games brought water from rivers of eight Saarc countries and would be merged with water of Brahmaputra in Guwahati.

After Modi’s drop-in diplomacy in Pakistan, the water of Saarc diplomacy is another attempt to talk about regional cooperation and trust.
