Samajwadi Party (SP) patron Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday met his staunch loyalist and rape-accused leader Gayatri Prajapati in jail, after which he claimed that the latter was “innocent”.
After spending about an hour with Prajapati in jail, Mulayam told reporters that the ex-minister has been falsely implicated.
“Prajapati is being treated like a terrorist... he has committed no wrong... the rape case against him is fake,” said Mulayam .
He also accused the BJP government in the state of being “vindictive” and said that he would raise his voice against the treatment meted out to Prajapati. “I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I may also meet the President and raise this issue,” he said.
He also lashed out at the media for “trying to suppress the truth” and writing against Prajapati “under pressure”.
