Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday held a meeting with the leaders of main opposition parties including Sushma Swaraj, Dr M M Joshi, Arun Jaitley, Jaswant Singh, and Yashwant Sinha. Joshi said it was emphasised that the Bill should be “India-centric”.
Sinha, a former finance and foreign minister, said consensus has yet not reached on the issue. The Bill cannot be rushed as it should be guided by national priority, he said.
The passing of the Bill is essential to operationalise the 2008 India-US 123 civil nuclear cooperation agreement.
