A local court in Dharmabad, Maharashtra, on Friday while admitting the recall petition of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has exempted him from attending the court till charges are framed.

However, the other TDP leaders will have to attend the court on October 15, as per schedule.

On September 21, the court refused to grant exemption to Naidu and 13 others from appearing in the court, while dealing with a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) issued against them for violating orders during the agitation against Babli barrage, ten years ago.

The court then had granted bail to three Telangana leaders— Prakash Goud, Gangula Kamalakar and Ratnam— who attended the court.

N R Ghajbiye, Judicial First-Class Magistrate Dharmabad of Nanded district in Maharashtra, ordered the police to arrest the TDP leaders including Naidu and present them before him on September 21.

The civil judge, junior division Dharmabad, had set the first hearing of the case on August 31, 2013.

Naidu had sent his lawyers Subba Rao and Hanumantha Rao to file a petition to recall the NBW issued against him.

As per information reaching Hyderabad, the Magistrate heard Naidu’s counsels, senior Supreme Court advocate Siddharth Luthra and Subbarao, on Friday and accepted their plea to exempt the chief minister from attending court on October 15.

Naidu in his recall petition submitted that he came to know about the NBW only through media and he has not received any summons from the court.

“As the cases filed by police against me are not of serious nature, I urge the honourable court to recall the cases. There is also precedence to such exemption of personal appearance, in response to the NBW issued on July 5, 2018,” Naidu’s plea said.
