Nashik: Rickshaw driver tries to set constable on fire

An auto-ricksha driver allegedly tried to set a traffic police constable on fire at the crowded Central Bus Station (CBS) here his afternoon.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (traffic), Sanjeev Thakur, told PTI that the incident took place when traffic constable Prabhakar Sonawane was insisting that driver Uttam Pawar remove his rickshaw from the parking area at CBS.

Angered, Pawar allegedly took out a petrol bottle and tried to pour it on the constable and set him on fire, but failed. He also tried to set himself afire, but was overpowered and arrested.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against him.
