NEET in Urdu from next year

The Union government on Friday told the Supreme Court that it was open to the idea of allowing writing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) in Urdu  but only from the next academic year.

NEET is an all-India common entrance test for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses.
Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar, representing the government, submitted before a bench of Justices Kurian Joseph and R Banumathi that it was not feasible to introduce Urdu as a medium from the current academic year.

He said a meeting of state officers was called before including other vernacular languages as medium for NEET but no state had suggested inclusion of Urdu.
