Maintaining that there was no lapse on the part of the state police, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday claimed that it was not humanly possible to prevent the kind of terrorist attacks which rocked Bodh Gaya on Sunday.
The chief minister said security in and around the Mahabodhi Temple had been tightened following the alert (by intelligence agencies). “Koi dava nahi kar sakta hai ki isko rok hee lenge (nobody can claim to prevent occurrence of such attacks),” he added.
He, however, suggested that the security of the world-famous temple at Bodh Gaya should be handed over to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) instead of private security guards. “As the CISF men have been specifically trained to handle such situations,” he said.
Temple reopens
Meanwhile, a day after the blast, the temple, which was closed on Sunday, was thrown open to the general public on Monday evening where prayers and chanting took place as usual.
The entire area was cordoned off on Sunday to facilitate the NIA and NSG sleuths, who had flown from Delhi, to carry out investigation. In the meantime, Bihar DGP Abhayanand on Monday said another bomb, 10th one, had exploded near a transformer but it could not be detected on Sunday.
“An exploded bomb and an unexploded bomb were found today (Monday). Altogether, 10 explosions have so far taken place at Bodh Gaya in which ammonium nitrate was used,” the DGP said.
