Nithyananda, out on conditional bail and against whom the Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had recently filed a massive 430-page charge-sheet in the Ramnagaram Judicial Magistrate court, was visiting his “Dhyana Peetam” ashram at Tirunvannamalai on the occasion of his birthday.

The tainted Swami faced a large group of volunteers and cadres of the two Communist parties and Left-wing organisations who waved black flags and shouted slogans, protesting his sexual misconduct, according to sources.

They urged the ancient Arunachaleshwarar Temple authorities not to allow its hallowed precincts “be defiled” by the presence of Swami Nithyananda.
