“Whenever we find anything wrong, we will not cover it up. We will take strict action,” Antony said here on the sidelines of a function.
Antony, described as Mr Clean in the Congress circles, has witnessed two major land-grab scams in the defence ministry – Sukhna and Adarsh. Both involved senior army officers and the name of previous army chief Deepak Kapoor has surfaced in both cases. The ministry ordered a CBI probe on Tuesday on the basis of recommendations from Army Chief General V K Singh.
“When we got a complaint from members of Parliament about these allegations, we immediately referred them to the Army chief. He made an extensive study and after that sent recommendations to the government. He told the ministry since there were so many complex issues involved, it is better to send the matter to the CBI,” Antony said.
