No hurdles for Kejri to appoint whistleblower as OSD

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared to have overcome the first hurdle to get whistleblower Sanjeev Chaturvedi as his Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

The Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) asked the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to give its assent to Chaturvedi’s deputation to the Delhi government recently after the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) sought its views.
The opinion of the Environment Ministry was sought as Chaturvedi belonged to Indian Forest Services and it is his cadre controlling authority.

The Health Ministry comes into the picture as he was sent there on deputation and appointed Chief Vigilance Officer of AIIMS.

He was removed from the post and no assignment was given to him though he remained with the Health Ministry.

Kejriwal had, in February, written to Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javadekar seeking Chaturvedi's deputation. The AAP leader was contemplating to make Chaturvedi the head of the government’s anti-graft unit but later decided to appoint him as OSD.
