In their separate communications to the Union Home Ministry, both state governments had asked for an Advance Security Liaison (ASL) facilities for the chief ministers even outside their states.
This facility is available only to the President, the Vice-President and the Prime Minister. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, as an SPG protectee, and the Leader of Opposition L K Advani.
The Centre, after verifying the terror threats, declined the facility to the two chief ministers saying it was not possible to bring them under this security rule, the sources said.
