No regrets: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

“There is no question of regret,” Bhagwat told reporters  here on Saturday on the eve of the 17th anniversary of the demolition of the mosque following a frenzied movement by Hindu organisations for the construction of Ram temple at the controversial site.

He said the RSS will continue to be a part of the movement for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said the demolition of the mosque was the result of “spontaneous reaction” of karsevaks and was not result of any conspiracy.

The RSS chief also criticised the Liberhan commission report on the demolition of the mosque and questioned its credibility saying it contained several “factual errors”.

On RSS relationship with the BJP, Bhagwat said the BJP was an independent political organisation and the RSS had no time to run it. However, he said the RSS had played an advisory role whenever the BJP sought advice on certain issues.

Refusing to be drawn into the issue of the next BJP president and his reported statement that the next BJP chief would be from outside Delhi, Bhagwat said he had said what he was told by the BJP leaders.
