Extending the deadline for submitting comments on the draft education policy by a month, the government on Friday said it will not tinker with the provisions in the Constitution for reservation and minority institutions.

Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar's assurance in the Rajya Sabha came after DMK MP Kanimozhi and others demanded conclusion of the discussion on draft education policy that started on Thursday.

"The only point which was raised and which needs explanation immediately is that some people feel that something is happening.

But the only explanation which I want to give is, we are not tinkering with any provision of the Constitution either with regard to reservation or minority educational institutions," he said.
