A court in Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against eight leading film stars including, Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj and Surya.
When the case came up for hearing, Judge Senthilkumar Rajavelu also issued similar arrest warrants against Cheran, Vivek, Vijayakumar, Arun Vijay and actress Sripriya.
The warrant was issued as the actors failed to appear before the court in connection with a case where they made defamatory remarks against journalists.
According to the case, a leading vernacular daily published a news regarding an actresses in 2009, which triggered uproar in the film industry. Film actors also staged protest demonstration against the journalists.
Rizario Maris Susai had filed a petition seeking action against the actors in 2010. When the case came up for hearing all these years, it was submitted that none of the actors appeared in the courts.
