United States President Barack Obama called up Prime Minister Narendra Modi to greet him on the occasion of Diwali, using the new hotline set up between the offices of the two leaders.

“A short while ago, President of the United States called. We exchanged Diwali greetings. This was our first conversation through the newly established hotline,” Modi posted on Twitter on Tuesday.

“President Obama and I discussed a wide range of other issues as well. It was good knowing how White House is marking Diwali,” the Prime minister added. Modi also tweeted that Obama and he meet during the G-20 summit in Turkey.
