The Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) has revived the production of anti-aircraft guns following demand for the equipment from both inside and outside the country, the OFB chairman Saurabh Kumar said on Wednesday.
The development comes after the recent skirmishes between the Indian Air Force and the Pakistan Air Force.
“We have revived the production of anti-aircraft guns and some other items which cannot be revealed now,” Kumar said while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of an event in Kolkata.
He also said that the production of the anti-aircraft guns will be at OFB’s Cossipore Gun and Shell Factory.
The factory started producing anti-aircraft guns in 1962 but it was discontinued a few years back due to lack of demand.
Earlier, the OFB had received an order for production of 114 Dhanush Artillery guns worth Rs 1,000 crore from the Indian Army.
