At least 64 cases of 4.2 variant of Covid reported in India as on Dec 16: Govt

At least 64 cases of 4.2 variant ofCovid-19 have been reported in the country as on December 16, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

These include 42 cases from Chhattisgarh, 11 from Gujarat, 4 from Tamil Nadu, 3 from Bihar, 2 from Assam and one case each from Maharashtra and Telangana.

NoCovid-19 case with AY4.2 variant has been reported from Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Mandaviya said in a written reply.

US to offer free Covid tests as Omicron becomes dominant

4 UK travellers test coronavirus positive in Goa

Four passengers from the United Kingdom tested positive for coronavirus after arriving in Goa on Tuesday, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said. 77 new Covid-19 cases in Thane, no death

Thane has reported 77 new cases of coronavirus, pushing the infection tally in the Maharashtra district to 5,71,304, an official said on Tuesday. These new cases were recorded on Monday, he said. No new fatality due to the virus was reported, keeping the death toll in the district unchanged at 11,601, he said, adding that the Covid-19 mortality rate in Thane stood at 2.03 per cent.(PTI)

No fresh Covid-19 case in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

No fresh Covid-19 case was registered in Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the last 24 hours, a health department official said on Tuesday. The Covid-19 tally in the union territory remained at 7,702, he said.

The archipelago now has only three active Covid-19 cases and all the patients are in the South Andaman district. The other two districts - North and Middle Andaman and Nicobar - are coronavirus free, the official said. (PTI)
